The Washburn Softball Complex, also known as Gahnstrom Field, is a state-of-the-art facility located in Topeka, Kansas. Renovated in 2020, the complex features two fields with a 200-foot fence down the lines and 210 feet to center, as well as a completely turfed field, new fencing, bullpens, batting cages, and dugouts. With a capacity of 500, the complex has been the home of the Washburn Ichabods softball team since 1970 and has seen great success, boasting a record of 216-114 over the past 21 seasons.
The facility underwent its first major upgrade in 2001, which included the construction of a new press box with restrooms, concession stands, and a working press area. Prior to the 2020 season, the field became the third in the MIAA to have a completely turfed field, and additional upgrades were made, including new bleachers, a 36-foot LED scoreboard, and new lights installed in 2021. The complex is named Gahnstrom Field in honor of Bill and Emilie Gahnstrom, who generously supported the Washburn softball program.
