Operational since 1965, the Head Start program offers health, nutritional, educational, social and mental health services to children between the ages of 3 and 5. It provides parents with training and educational programs to foster the development of children. The program includes the screening of children with hearing, vision, behavioral and developmental issues. It assists in the development of literacy, communication and self-help skills. The Head Start program offers social, cognitive, speech, language, physical and occupational therapy skills. It also includes the developing of appropriate classrooms for students.
