The Overland Park Fire Department has been serving the residents of Overland Park, Kan., for more than 75 years. The department employs more than 100 firefighters and officers. The department works to protect the lives, property and environment of the city of Clayton from the threats and occurrences of emergencies. It also provides services that include fire prevention, business inspection, and search and rescue. The Overland Park Fire Department organizes public education programs related to home and workplace fire safety. The department provides training in a variety of areas, such as water, trench, high-angle and confined space rescue and hazardous materials mitigation. It is operated by the city of Overland Park, which additionally manages police, traffic and transportation, and parks and recreation departments.
