Larned State Hospital is one of three state-operated psychiatrics facilities in Kansas. Its mental health care services are administered via three distinct programs: the psychiatric service program, the state security program and the sexual predator treatment program. The hospital has a licensed capacity of nearly 300 patients and includes 28 major buildings. It is staffed by psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, nurses, licensed mental health technicians, mental health aides, activity therapists and physicians. Larned State Hospital was established in 1914 and is situated on a 98-acre campus in Larned, Kan. It is accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations.
