Founded in 1899 as the Southern Novelty Company, Sonoco is a global packaging company based in Hartsville, S.C., with operations around the world. Sonoco's two largest products are engineered carriers (tubes and cores) and composite cans. Engineered carriers are used for winding and transporting such products as textiles, paper, film, foil, tape and anything that is wound during the manufacturing process. Composite cans are containers with paperboard bodies that use a variety of materials as liners, closures and labels.
