Ed Hall sold his interest in an ice cream company and bought Boelte Lithography from its owner, Art Boelte, in 1967. When he was looking for a memorable icon for his business, he hired a graphic designer who suggested a juicy red apple, which reminded Hall of his father's orchard. Hall liked the idea, and the apple became an inseparable part of the company's identity. The company proactively invests in research and development and upgrades its technology periodically. From a fledgling print shop, with just two employees and a handful of customers, the company has grown to become one of leading full-service printers in Kansas City, Mo.
