Arrowhead West is a nonprofit organization that serves children up to age 3 and adults over the age of 18 with developmental disabilities. Common developmental disabilities include mental retardation, autism, cerebral palsy, epilepsy, head injury and multiple physical disabilities. The organization also serves young children who have substantial developmental delays, specific cognitive or acquired conditions that could result in developmental disabilities. Arrowhead West evolved from the efforts of the Dodge City Area Council for Retarded Children that originally served the Kansas counties of Ford, Gray and Hodgeman. Arrowhead West was incorporated in 1976 and also began to serve Edwards, Clark, Kiowa and Comanche counties. The organization is headquartered in Dodge City, Kan.
