The National Dance Institute, also known as NDI, is a nonprofit facility that serves more than 35,000 public school children and their families in New York City annually. The institute s several dancers come from low-income communities. It provides a range of advanced programs for children up to the age of 14. The National Dance Institute additionally offers professional development workshops for classroom teachers. The institute s after-school classes are open to the general public. In addition, it hosts two-week workshops for professional dancers, dance educators and musicians. The National Dance Institute provides scholarships, as well as operates the Star Builders Club.
