Founded in 1950, Windsor Window & Door Company began by constructing windows and patio doors. Windsor remained a regional window company until 1987, when Woodgrain Millwork of Fruitland, Idaho, purchased it. Windsor operates from 17 plants in 13 states and South America. It is one of four Woodgrain divisions. In 1992, Windsor took another step toward expansion with the purchase of a window plant in Monroe, N.C. The Iowa plant serves customers west of the Ohio River, and the North Carolina plant serves customers in the Eastern and Southeastern United States. Windsor makes windows and frames from several materials, including pvc, vinyl and hard primed and clad wood windows. It has offices in West Des Moines.
