The Tai Studies Center (TSC) is a non-profit organization based in Des Moines, IA, dedicated to the preservation and promotion of Tai culture. Founded in 1984 by Tai Dam refugees and their American friends, TSC conducts research, publishes Tai history and literature, and supports students in higher education. Their mission also includes promoting intercultural understanding and cooperation in the community at large.
Recognizing the importance of preserving their cultural heritage, TSC gathers written and oral versions of Tai Dam history, translating them into English to transmit their culture and history to future generations. In addition to their cultural and historical projects, TSC supports Tai Dam students and engages in economic and humanitarian initiatives for the Tai people in Northwest Vietnam. As a United Nations Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), TSC plays a vital role in raising awareness of the Tai people and providing resources for further research.
