Established in 1960, Grant Wood School provides a variety of educational services for the academic, social and personal development of children. The school is named after Grant Wood, an artist who is known for his regionalism-style of art and an oil painting, American Gothic, which depicts the farmer and his daughter in front of an American farmhouse. It serves more than 350 students in kindergarten through grade five. The school provides a variety of academic courses, such as math, social studies, science, English and physical education. It has a family resource center that houses books, pamphlets and tapes related to various issues and behavioral patterns that parents may encounter with their children. The school offers a gifted and talented education program and organizes field trips for students. It additionally provides guidance counseling that includes anger management, referral and individual counseling sessions. Grant Wood School is located in Bettendorf, Iowa.
