Established in 1993 and open to all ages and levels of fitness, Friendship Yoga is solely dedicated to the Iyengar Yoga method. Offering classes based on the teachings of the living yoga master and author of the classic yoga treatise "Light on Yoga" B.K.S. Iyenga, Friendship Yoga specializes in standing poses that help develop strength, stamina, concentration and correct body alignment, and offers a developed teaching methodology that focuses on safe, orderly and systematic sequences of asanas (yoga poses) that help develop a student's ability both within a class and from class to class.
Classes are organized in levels and students are encouraged to progress according to their ability and motivation. The “Ageless” class is open to anyone with special needs. The Iyengar Yoga teacher certification process is very rigorous and takes a minimum of four years of teacher training to become certified, thereby assuring that a certified Iyengar Yoga teacher is professional and highly capable of recognizing and working with specific needs and various ailments which can cause physical and emotional discomfort and/or pain and stress.
