About Morningside For more than 115 years, Morningside College has provided students with the highest quality education possible. Morningside has been designated one of the Midwest's "Best Regional Colleges" in the U.S. News & World Report's college rankings since 2005 and has been designated a "Best Midwestern College" by The Princeton Review since 2003. Morningside was one of 10 small, four-year colleges in the United States named to the honor roll for The Chronicle of Higher Education's 2009 Great Colleges to Work For program. Founded in 1894 by the Methodist Episcopal Church, Morningside College is a private, four-year, co-educational institution affiliated with the United Methodist Church. Morningside has 21 buildings on a 68-acre campus in a scenic, secure residential area of Sioux City, Iowa (population 140, 000). The Morningside Historic District, which includes Grace United Methodist Church and most of the campus, is on the National Register of Historic Places. The college seeks students, faculty and staff representing diverse social, cultural, ethnic, racial and national backgrounds. The college enrolls more than 1, 200 full-time students. Although the majority of students hail from Iowa and Nebraska, Morningside draws students from more than 20 states and several foreign countries. Morningside is committed to the liberal arts as a foundation for every discipline. More than three-fourths of Morningside's faculty have attained the highest degree in their profession.
