Founded in 1978 by Dr. James A. Kaufman, this school is designed to facilitate safer environments for students to perform science experiments by working with and teaching secondary school science teachers. It offers one- and two-day seminars and 24-hour short courses year-round. Some examples of the courses include Lab Waste Management, Biosafety in the Laboratory, Safety is Elementary and Radiation Safety. The institute also sells products that will enable a safer environment in the lab. The institute also hosts numerous conferences around the country.
