West Side Nut Club, located in Evansville, Ind., offers its members social activities as well as civic programs. Founded in 1921, the club undertakes various outdoor projects, including the International Convention that takes place in August of each year. It also organizes a mammoth fall festival every October, which is a week-long event on the west side of the city, with free entertainment, carnival attractions, window displays, more than 130 food booths, scores of other booths selling various products, amateur talent competitions, and on the last day, a huge parade. The event attracts more 150,000 people during the week. The club has more than 300 active members and once each summer it holds its annual convention but its various civic projects continue throughout the year.
