Peter A. Walts, MD, cardiothoracic surgeon with CorVasc MDs, specailizing in Cardiothoracic Surgery, a member of the St.Vincent Medical Group, graduated with bachelor's degrees in molecular biology and biochemistry from Wesleyan University, Middletown, Connecticut. Dr. Walts earned his medical degree from Finch University of Health Sciences, Chicago Medical School. During his general surgery residency at Washington Hospital Center, Washington D.C., he earned the Keshishian Award for excellence in vascular surgery. Dr Walts completed his cardiothoracic residency at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation where he was awarded the Dr. Charles H. Bryan Award for Excellence in Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery. Dr. Walts specializes in adult heart surgery, with particular interest in valve surgery including minimally invasive approaches, and cardiac transplant. Dr. Walts is certified by the American College of Surgery and the American Board of Thoracic Surgery. He holds memberships with the Society of Thoracic Surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Walts is well published and has presented at several medical symposiums such as the American College of Chest Physicians and the Society of Thoracic Surgery.
