Traylor Bros. construction of the Braddock Dam, located on the Monongahela River in Pittsburgh, has been selected for the 2005 American Society of Civil Engineers Pittsburgh Civil Engineering Achievement Award. The company is a construction management firm that specializes in the erection of tunnels, bridges, dams and ports. Traylor Bros. areas of responsibility include administration, underground and heavy civil projects, steel erection, equipment and safety. The home office is located in Evansville, Ind., and permanent divisional offices are located in the California towns of Pleasanton and Irvine. The company has completed more than 100 tunneling projects from sewer tunnels in St. Louis to subway tunnels in Singapore. Traylor Bros. has also completed in excess of 130 major bridge projects, with superstructure, substructure and seismic retrofit capabilities. In addition, the company s heavy civil lock, dam, wharf and port projects, which range in size upwards of $100 million, are located on the Monongahela, Ohio, Columbia, Green, and Kentucky Rivers, and were contracted with the United States Army Corps of Engineers and local private utility concerns.
