Founded in 1993, Steel Dynamics, also known as SDI, is one of the largest producers of carbon steel products. It operates more than five electric-furnace minimills and has over 3,500 employees. The company has various divisions that include flat roll, structural and rail and engineered bar product divisions. Its subsidiary, New Millennium Building Systems, produces joists, girders and decking for nonresidential construction projects.
