Dr. Chang is a board-certified bariatric and general surgeon. She received her bachelor of science from the University of Michigan and medical degree from Wayne State University. Subsequently, she completed general surgery training at Saint Joseph Mercy Health Hospital in Michigan and Bariatric and Minimally Invasive Surgery fellowship at Indiana University. Her clinical focus is the disease of obesity. She understands that obesity requires comprehensive treatment. Therefore, she attained specialized knowledge with dual board certifications in both the surgical and medical care of obesity (Diplomate of the American Board of Surgery, Focused Practice in Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery and Diplomate of the American Board of Obesity Medicine). She performs minimally invasive bariatric surgery using both laparoscopic and robotic techniques (Roux-en-Y gastric bypass, sleeve gastrectomy, duodenal switch, single anastomosis duodeno-ileal bypass (SADI), and revision bariatric surgery). In addition, she performs endoscopy and general surgery such as the surgical treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease, hiatal hernias, and paraoesophageal hernias. Dr. Chang is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a fellow of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. She is an active member of the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons and the Obesity Medicine Association. She works on advocacy and continuing education as the President of the Indiana chapter of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. In her spare time, she and her husband enjoy chasing after their three kids.
