The Munster Fire Department is responsible for fire suppression and prevention, emergency medical services, and fire and rescue communications. It operates administration, inspection and public education divisions. The department also maintains a training division that works to educate fire fighting personnel on fire fighting and rescue techniques and equipment. Additionally, the division plans drills and exercises to maintain a high level of readiness. The Munster Fire Department houses engines, snorkel trucks, support vehicles, fire safety and rescue trailers and boats. It has more than 45 personnel and responds to nearly 400 calls for service annually. The department is located in Munster, Ind.
