Established in 1924, Major Hospital provides health care services to the families of Shelby County and the surrounding communities in Indiana. It also provides Spanish language interpreters to serve patients and their families who cannot speak, read, write and understand English at a level that permits them to interact effectively with health care providers. The hospital also has a chapel and a gift shop that features a variety of specialty items. Major Hospital additionally operates a cafeteria that offers breakfast, lunch, dinner, beverage and snack services, as well as complimentary coffee and tea. It has a team of volunteers who provide more than 20,000 hours of service each year. Located in Shelbyville, Ind., the hospital maintains several departments, including surgery, special nursery, radiology, pharmacy, pediatrics, nutrition, cardio pulmonary and pain management.
