HistoryBuilt in 1924, Temple Lofts was originally known as Phillips Temple C.M.E Church. The building was constructed to house an African American congregation that grew to include over 2,000 members. Services were held there until 1992 when the building was sold to another congregation. The building changed ownership to IPS who considered turning it into a parking lot for Crispus Attics High School. Neighborhood advocates intervened and set out to find a buyer who could re-purpose the building. In 2015, the building was sold to Van Rooy properties and turned into loft style apartments. The years of vacancy took a toll on the building, but the pews were salvaged and can still be seen around the building.SpecialtiesTemple Lofts is a stunning church conversion into loft-style and traditional apartments that feature updated cabinetry, granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, plank flooring, and a washer/dryer in unit.
