The Indiana Department of Education offers assistance to educational institutions throughout the United States. The department handles legal issues related to legislative affairs and agendas, bill tracking and regular session enactment summaries. It has various departments that include public instruction; a center for assessment, research and information technology; community relations and special populations; and a school improvement and performance center. It also offers specialized educational programs in arts, economics, international education, world languages, language arts, mathematics, physical education, science, service learning and social studies. The department offers various other services, such as dropout recovery, virtual schools and private education, state attendance records, truancy reduction and crisis intervention services. It also specializes in providing juvenile justice and children s management programs and offers health care services for diseases that include HIV and AIDS.
