Established in 1974, the Department of Family Medicine is a division of the Indiana University School of Medicine. Its staff of physicians provides educational programs in the area of family medicine. The organization features the ENLACE Project that offers assistance with the development of education, service, research and outreach opportunities for medical students and improves access to heath care services for the residents of Indiana. Department of Family Medicine also operates the Bowen Research Center, which undertakes several research projects to improve the health and lives of Indiana residents. Its family medicine program for students provides various elective options, including geriatrics, inpatient and ambulatory care, and hospitalist and adult inpatient service. Located in Indianapolis, the organization additionally offers faculty development programs.
