American Steel Foundries and Keystone Industries merged to form ASF-Keystone. ASF-Keystone designs and builds freight car energy management systems, such as side frames, bolsters, articulated connectors and couplers, draft gears, cushioning devices, constant contact side bearings and snubbing packages. It also offers hot-coiled steel springs for rail cars used on heavy construction and earth moving equipment. The company produces hot-wound helical springs for rail, agricultural and construction equipment. ASF-Keystone s products include Motion Control M976, Ridemaster trucks, Super Service Ride Control and split wedges. It maintains one of its plants in Hammond, Ind. The company is a part of Amsted Industries Incorporated, which is a manufacturer of industrial components that serves the railroad, vehicular, and construction and building markets.
