The Woodstock Police Department provides law enforcement for the city of Woodstock, Ill., and is a division of the city s government. The department operates a communications center that dispatches emergency and non-emergency police, fire and rescue services. The department s primary responsibilities include providing enforcement of laws that relate to crimes against persons and property, as well as initiating investigations into such crimes. It also enforces codes and ordinances pertaining to traffic and parking. In addition, the department participates in programs that are geared toward community awareness and crime prevention. The police department maintains records and compiles reports regarding emergency calls, types of reported crimes and offender registrations. It also files reports on behalf of residents pertaining to crimes and traffic accidents. The department is comprised of more than 60 employees.
