The Wood Dale Police Department protects, preserves and safeguards the constitutional and civil rights of citizens through law enforcement. It employs a staff of more than 50 full-time sworn officers, civilians and community volunteers. The Wood Dale Police Department operates the Citizens Emergency Response Team (C.E.R.T.), which deals with high-risk and dangerous situations, including barricaded persons, high-risk warrant arrests, explosive devices and heavily armed criminals. The department also has an honor guard that marches in parades, conducts funerals for officers and their family members, and attends wakes and funerals for area officers killed in the line of duty. Located in Wood Dale, Ill., the Wood Dale Police Department is nationally accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA).
