West Deerfield Township has been in existence for more than 150 years. It covers an 18-square-mile radius that includes Bannockburn, most of Deerfield, parts of Riverwoods, Highland Park and Lake Forest, plus a number of unincorporated areas. West Deerfield Township's current population exceeds 33,000.
The local government is developing new ways to assist the community. It set up a community emergency fund for residents who are experiencing financial hardships and a food pantry.
