The Tinley Park Mental Health Center is state-operated facility that was built in 1958. It is one of nine run in Illinois run by the Department of Human Services. The hospital occupies 213 acres and is adjacent to 62 acres of property that was vacated in 2009 by the Howe Development Center. The 150-bed center was recently reduced to 75 beds because of funding cuts. It uses eight total buildings on the property.
