Incorporated in 1909, the Village of Oak Lawn has a population of more than 55,000. It is administered by the government of the Village of Oak Lawn in Illinois. The village government employs over 400 full-time staff members and operates through several departments, including police, fire, finance, public works, community services and human resources. The Village of Oak Lawn maintains a park system that is operated by the Oak Lawn Park District. It has over 300 acres of parks and recreational facilities, including playgrounds, walking paths, baseball fields, swimming pools, fitness centers, and volleyball, basketball and tennis courts. The Village of Oak Lawn also operates a public education system that includes various elementary, middle and high schools.
