History
Saint Scholastica School opened in 1962 with the Benedictine Sisters of Sacred Heart Monastery, Lisle, as teachers. Initally, there were three grades in two rented homes on the corner of Janes and Crabtree. As enrollment increased, a permanent school was built in 1964 and additional grades were introduced. Today, Saint Scholastica School facilities include classrooms for students from kindergarten through eighth grade. In addition to core classrooms, there is a school gym, library, and computer lab. The attached Parish Center includes additional classrooms for music, art, and resource classes as well as an Activity Center.
Specialties
We are a Catholic school serving children from kindergarten to 8th grade. Saint Scholastica School has been preparing students for a faith-filled life of purpose and future academic success since 1962. Saint Scholastica students excel in academics as well as developing the whole child. Our rigorous educational program develops students' critical thinking skills to help them reach their greatest potential. Working in groups, students brainstorm to problem solve creatively. As students ask questions they connect different ideas and incorporate different points of view. Decision making skills are developed as students use what they have learned. Saint Scholastica students are well prepared for their futures. Rather than a life of work our students' futures are focused on a life of worth! From the annual art and book fair, band program, and drama program to athletic teams earning championships in volleyball and basketball, we offer many opportunities for your child to discover his/her talents and skills, both inside and outside the classroom.
