St. Bernadette Church was established in 1947, when founding Pastor, Rev. Morgan O'Brien purchased 5 acres of where the church currently sits, for $20,000. The first service was held in a nearby funeral home and the first baptism was at Little Company of Mary Hospital. The church gradually grew and established St. Bernadette Catholic Academy in 1949.
The parish is located just a few blocks north of Little Company of Mary Hospital. As the church mission statement says, the faith community there lives the gospel message through "providing opportunities for spiritual growth and social awareness through Liturgy, Education and Service to all God's People."
Parishioners may participate in several groups including Religious Education, youth ministry, the music ministry, the ELS Program, MANNA News and more. St. Bernadette volunteers as a group with St. Vincent DePaul, Aid to the Needy, Altar and Rosary Society, Family and School Association, Eucharistic Adoration and the Cub Scouts.
St. Bernadette Church is now led by Rev. Gary Miller, Pastor.
