The Sisters of Christian Charity originated in Germany in the early months of 1849. Sister Pauline and four other women were the first members. Initially they took care of blind children. Later they broadened their care to include men and women of every generation, rich or poor, infant or the aged. Currently there are Sisters of Christian Charity in Germany, Italy, the Philippines, Chile, Bolivia, Argentina, Uruguay and the United States. The Sisters are active in Social Justice responding to the cries of displaced peoples and man's inhumanity to man. Check the website for more information.
