Founded in 1867, Portage Cragin Counseling Center is a part of Lutheran Social Services of Illinois, which is a full-service agency that offers services for children, individuals, seniors and families. Portage Cragin Counseling Center offers counseling, adoption, residential treatment, pregnancy education, and foster and child care services. The center also initiates a program that includes specialized therapy for children and adolescents who experience emotional or behavioral problems. In addition, it provides a spectrum of services related to alcohol and drug abuse, developmental disabilities, mental health, skilled nursing, and senior and community housing. Cragin Counseling Center is affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, Lutheran Network for Justice Advocacy and The Metropolitan Chicago Synod. It maintains an office in Chicago.
