Village of Plainfield
Once just a small farm town 35 miles west of Chicago, Plainfield is now a thriving suburb. It's undergone tremendous growth and change in recent years. At the time of a 1990 tornado that damaged a significant portion of the community, just 4,557 people called Plainfield home. Today, it boasts 37,334 residents, a sophisticated downtown shopping and dining district, and expansive commercial, office and industrial development along Illinois 59. Residents can come to Village Hall to pay water bills, obtain building permits, have documents notarized and seek planning/zoning approval for new construction, zoning changes and variances.
