Owen Elementary School is named after retired Indian Prairie School District board member, Owen C. Wavrinek. He joined the school board in 1980 and was reelected five times during the next 21 years, serving as president from 1985-1989. He helped the district meet many challenges, including dealing with Naperville's rapid growth. Today, Owen Elementary School is one of 35 schools in the district. It teaches students in Kindergarten through fifth grade.
