Founded by John Howard, National University of Health Sciences has been operational for more than 100 years. Located in Lombard, Ill., it is one of the leading nonprofit educational and research institutions in the United States. Formerly known as the National School of Chiropractic, the university is approved by the North Central Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools and Council on Chiropractic Education. National University offers courses in a wide variety of areas, such as chiropractic, naturopathic, Oriental medicine, acupuncture, massage therapy, biomedical science and other health care programs. The university comprises the college of professional studies and allied health sciences and The Lincoln College of Postprofessional, Graduate and Continuing Education. It also offers certificate programs in the fields of human physiology, biomechanical dysfunction, genetics, trauma, hygiene, microorganisms, nutritional status, exercise and psychology. Additionally, the university publishes the Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics and Journal of Chiropractic Medicine.
