Based in Washington, D.C., the National Restaurant Association is a business association serving the restaurant industry that employs more than 12 million people. Founded in 1919, the association, along with the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation represents and promotes more than 930,000 restaurants and foodservice outlets. The National Restaurant Association has more than 60,000 member companies that represent over 300,000 restaurant establishments, including regular and fast-food restaurant operators, chains, franchisees and independents. Its library offers various reports, publications and research materials that provide information on various restaurant-related problems and solutions. It organizes various shows that attract more than 70,000 attendees, including over 2,000 suppliers. The association is a member of the International Hotel & Restaurant Association.
