The Investigations Division, a part of Naperville Police Department, is staffed with more than 40 sworn and over 20 civilian officers. It is responsible for the secondary investigation of crimes and implementation of community programs. The division s major crime unit investigates serious offenses, such as homicides, robberies, sexual assaults, frauds and burglaries. Its general assignment unit handles less serious offenses, including thefts and disorderly conducts. The Investigations Division maintains a special enforcement unit that handles drug-related cases and stolen auto offenses. Located in Naperville, Ill., the division also operates a forensic unit that collects, evaluates and stores evidence and serves as a liaison between local, state and federal crime laboratories. The Investigations Division additionally has a crime prevention unit that offers school- and community- based programs.
