Immaculate Conception Parish holds Mass in the chapel at 5:15 p.m. Saturday, and at 7:30, 9 and 11 a.m. and 5:15 p.m. Sunday. Mass is held weekdays in the church at 6:15 and 7:30 a.m. Monday through Friday, and at 8 a.m. Saturday. IC is the oldest Catholic parish in Elmhurst. As early as 1862, the church was established as a mission; it became a parish in 1876. Immaculate Conception Grade School was founded in 1900 with 40 students in eight grades and staffed by two sisters and a postulant. High school classrooms were added in 1936. It was the first co-educational Catholic high school in DuPage County. It graduated its first class in 1940. Today, the ICHS Knights participate in football, volleyball, golf and cross country, along with a plethora of clubs and organizations. The parish that began with 20 families is now made up of more than 2,400 households.
