The Mundelein Police Department, established in 1943, is a law enforcement agency. It prevents crime, protects residents lives and their property, suppresses criminal activity, and apprehends and prosecutes offenders. The Mundelein Police Department supports Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.), which is an international education program that seeks to prevent the usage of illegal drugs, membership in gangs and violent behavior. The department has a special operations unit that undertakes collection, evaluation, analysis and dissemination of information pertaining to individuals, groups, organizations and business suspected of being involved in gang activities. The Mundelein Police Department, located in Mundelein, Ill., also has bicycle, traffic, investigations, records management and telecommunications units.
