The Montgomery Soil & Water Conservation District (SWCD) is a locally led entity in Montgomery County, Ohio, dedicated to connecting residents, businesses, governments, and agriculture with education, best management practices, and technical leadership on water quality, conservation, and wildlife habitat. As a political subdivision of the State of Ohio, the SWCD works with landowners to decrease soil erosion, improve water quality, and maintain drainage projects to prevent flooding and soil erosion.
Founded in response to the Great Dust Bowl in the 1930s, the SWCD is administered by an elected Board of Supervisors who set policy and conduct district business. With a team of administrative, technical, and education personnel, as well as partnering agencies such as the Ohio Department of Agriculture and the USDA Natural Resource Conservation Service, the SWCD strives to be the community's natural resource stewards for a livable community today and tomorrow.
