MJ Kellner, an institutional food distributor, has been in business for more than 70 years. In 1920, Maurice J. Kellner established a wholesale sugar company known as M.J. Kellner Company. His son, H.J. Kellner, turned the company into an institutional food business in 1945. It has become one of the leading contract-bid food service suppliers in the United States. Contract-bid business is done in Illinois, Missouri, Ohio, Wisconsin, Iowa, North Carolina, Tennessee, Alabama, Arkansas and Georgia. MJ Kellner services restaurants, hotels, nursing homes, hospitals and schools. The company is a supplier of various types of food from other manufacturers and brands, such as ConAgra Foods, John Morrell and Marzetti. MJ Kellner operates a distribution center and maintains headquarters in Springfield, Ill.
