History
Mary Lou and Jim Trammel opened the original restaurant next to the IC railroad tracks with only 13 stools-it resembled a train car. Mary Lou cooked on the grill and handled the counter all by herself. 1976 she moved to Illinois Avenue and expanded to 28 stools and a small dining room. January 1st 1990 Mary Lou handed over the reigns to her daughter Marilynn and her husband Robert Martin and they still run it to this day. Mary Lou passed away in December 2006. December 2011 brought more change when the restaurant moved 1 door south on Illinois to its current location at 118 South Illinois Avenue, Carbondale. With the help of great employees over the years Mary Lou's has continued to serve up great food in a family atmosphere!!
