Jefferson High School, located in Rockford, Ill., is part of Rockford Public Schools. Founded in 1957, it enrolls more than 1,900 students from grades nine through 12. The school offers programs that prepare the student for college and the curriculum includes various subjects, such as English, math, science, social studies, computer technology, physical education, art and music. It offers advanced placement and honors courses in several subject areas, including mathematics, literature, English, chemistry, anatomy, microbiology and physics. The school provides various opportunities for its students through fine arts, athletics, clubs and organizations. Jefferson High School students may participate in band, yearbook and sports, such as baseball, basketball, cheerleading and football.
