ISS was founded in 1984 and is a developer of highly sensitive fluorescence instrumentation for research, clinical and industrial applications. ISS is responsible for the introduction of advanced steady-state and time-resolved fluorescence instrumentation and it continues with research and development efforts scanning fluorescence correlation spectroscopy, particle tracking of single molecules and imaging. Since its beginning, the innovations introduced to research-grade fluorescence instrumentation has generated a second product line for medical applications. ISS provides innovative fluorescence instrumentation to scientists working in life sciences, drug discovery, material sciences and basic physical-chemical research applications. Its fluorescence product line includes steady-state spectrofluorometers, spectrometers for the determination of multiple decay times, fluorescence microscopes, laser scanning confocal microscopes, a spectrometer for fluorescence correlation spectroscopy and a particle-tracking system for single molecule detection. ISS facilities are located in Champaign, Ill., where it employs nearly 30 people. It is a privately owned company.
