The International Buddhism Friendship Association (IBFA) is a Buddhist organization based in Chicago, IL. Founded in 1992 by a group of Vietnamese Chinese, the IBFA initially operated as a temple without monastics. However, in 2000, the devotees decided to hand over the temple to Master JiRu and his sangha people, believing that a Buddhist temple should be managed by monastics. The temple later moved to its current location in South Chinatown in 2004, providing a space for more believers to come in contact with the teachings of Buddha.
In addition to the temple, the IBFA also established a meditation center in 2009. Located in a quiet neighborhood, the center offers a suitable environment for meditation practice. It also features a columbarium for the storage of cremated ashes, providing both single and double occupancies for people of all races and religions. The meditation center, under the guidance of Master JiRu, also assists in funeral arrangements, urn purchases, and holds annual memorial ceremonies.
