The Inclusive Engineering Consortium (IEC) is a non-profit organization based in Chicago, IL, dedicated to advancing education, research, and careers in electrical and computer engineering. Their mission is to increase the quantity and quality of African-American, Hispanic, and Native American graduates in this field, bringing together academia, industry, and government to create culturally rich institutions for the students they serve.
Through specialized programs, collaborations, and corporate support, the IEC aims to foster academic-industry collaboration, improve the quality and effectiveness of ECE education, and provide opportunities for historically minority serving institutions to collaborate and enhance their programs. Recently, the IEC was awarded a significant grant by the U.S. Department of Defense to support their 2to4 program, which focuses on assisting first-generation, underrepresented community college students in completing four-year ECE degrees.
