Founded in 1853, the Illinois Education Association is an organization composed of Illinois elementary and secondary teachers, higher education faculty/staff and educational support professionals, committed to serving the educational needs of the state. Based in Springfield, Ill., it has various departments, such as business services, government relations, program development and instruction/ professional development services, to name a few. The organization also has various committees, including the early childhood committee, the Illinois political action committee for education and the effective communications committee, among others.
