Founded in 1983, the Illinois Criminal Justice Information Authority offers a range of judicial services. The authority is a part of the State of Illinois, which provides a variety of administrative services. The Illinois Criminal Justice Information Authority monitors the operation of existing criminal justice information systems to protect the constitutional rights and privacy of citizens. The authority develops, operates and maintains computerized information systems for police agencies. It provides services in the areas of grants administration, policy and planning, research and analysis, and information systems and technology. The Illinois Criminal Justice Information Authority publishes and supports crime prevention brochures, technical manuals, data guides, statistical profiles and annual reports.
